The Flip Top Table Concept for care homes

Flip Top is a simple, elegantly designed over chair table. Flip Top replaces the traditional wood laminate over chair tables on the market. The innovative and patented product design, allows Flip Top to attach to most armchairs. The unique ‘knuckle joint’ allows the table to simply slide in front of the chair when in use and just as easily, slide back to the side of the chair when not.

The table top is made from plastic, allowing it to be cleaned easily and maintain good hygiene standards. The unique stowaway feature allows care home’s to maintain a clutter-free environment as well as reducing the risk of trips and falls.

Flip Top was created by care home owners Phillip and Lakshmy Pengelly. the product was first introduced to the public on 5th April 2020 on BBC’s Dragons’ Den, where the couple nervously pitched the design and sparked the interest of the Dragons.

Upon receiving two offers of investment, the couple chose Dragon Sara Davies of Crafter’s Companion to take Flip Top to market.

Sara was very passionate about social care because her ‘nan’ is in a care setting herself. Sara could instantly see the benefit of Flip Top. She is very down to earth and we immediately knew, she was the perfect choice to join the Flip Top team.
